Often larger, more established, churches will plant new churches by transplanting a portion of their congregation. <BR/><BR/>This is not a term in common use amongst churches that have a history of being state churches, because their metaphor is more of a diocesian structure where you might start up something from scratch, or a diocese might be divided in two to better serve the population.
